Welcome From the Department Chairman! Thank you for your interest in the Department of Urology at The Ohio State University. Operating under Ohio State's College of Medicine and the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, our department is dedicated to offering comprehensive education and research programs in conjunction with a medical center providing state-of-the-art clinical care. We have had many exciting accomplishments recently, including the establishment of an internationally recognized robotic prostatectomy center, an incontinence and voiding disorders practice with a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, and a kidney stone management program with ambulatory treatment using lithotripsy and ureteral endoscopy. A recent Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) review of our residency program resulted in a commendation and full accreditation with a 5-year review cycle (the longest period that can be granted). Our resident complement was permanently increased to three per year. This is an exciting time for Ohio State and the Department of Urology. We have begun a massive 15-year construction program, including expansion of the James Cancer Hospital, and continue to introduce leading-edge advances in medical technology. We invite you to peruse this Web site for a comprehensive overview of our department and to contact us for more information about our residency and fellowship programs. ![]() Robert R.
