Resident TestimonialResponsibility. From the start of your urologic training at Ohio State, each resident is expected to make level appropriate decisions and be aware enough to know when to ask for assistance. Patient care and operative procedures alike are the responsibility of the resident. Senior level residents are expected to have enough surgical skill and expertise to teach junior residents the largest of procedures.
Clinical decisions are made by all level residents, with emphasis placed on physiologic and evidence based practice patterns. Thought-out decisions are always respected. A strong work ethic is expected. As residents attain these characteristics, autonomy is rapidly advanced in both clinics and the operating room. Learning is driven by experience at Ohio State. Book knowledge is primarily obtained in self-directed study, with supplemental conferences weekly. Fellowship trained attendings in nearly all specialty fields support our education with impromptu sessions during clinic and operations. New technology is consistently being tested and evaluated. The medical center continues to focus on remaining cutting edge in research and services offered. With specialized attendings, a world-renowned robotics program, and globally recognized pediatric urologists, the Ohio State Department of Urology has a lot to offer any potential candidate. Our residents traditionally become excellent surgeons with the clinical knowledge to use that skill in the appropriate situations. To get to that level, much is expected. Thus, candidates to our program must be ready to accept the responsibility. ![]() Greg Lowe, MD PGY-4 |
